Overall Artistic Style
The ensemble is executed in a full-realism urban genre style, featuring life-size (1:1) modeling that strictly adheres to the principles of scientific anatomical precision. The work captures the authentic essence of daily street life with absolute structural fidelity.
Sculptural Rendering: The Seated Figure
The figure features lean, defined musculature with natural undulations across the shoulders, back, and arms. The posture is characterized by a forward-leaning, downward-shifted center of gravity, with the weight realistically balanced on the edge of the traditional bamboo cot.
Sculptural Rendering: The Standing Senior Figure
The figure masterfully captures a portly middle-aged physique, characterized by a prominent, rounded abdomen. Our artists have meticulously rendered the visceral textures of aging, specifically the flaccid skin folds around the neck and waist, achieving a level of hyper-realism that honors the natural human form.
Authentic Bamboo Reconstruction
The traditional bamboo daybed features a high-fidelity reconstruction of bound moso bamboo structures. Our artists have meticulously rendered the segmented nodes of the poles and the intricate interlaced textures of the woven bamboo strips. This level of sculptural precision ensures that every fiber and hollow-out detail of the organic material is captured with exceptional textural integrity.
Compositional Logic & Spatial Dynamics
The horizontal, elongated bamboo cot serves as the foundational substrate for the entire visual narrative. By juxtaposing a seated figure with a standing one, the composition achieves a sophisticated vertical rhythm and contrast in scale. The converging gazes of the two characters create a closed-loop visual interaction, capturing a moment of profound psychological depth. This arrangement is masterfully engineered for 360-degree viewing, ensuring absolute narrative integrity and engaging storytelling from every possible vantage point.
Project Location: Jianghan Road Pedestrian Boulevard
Situated in the historic heart of Hankou’s traditional commercial core, this installation is part of an extensive Old Wuhan Folklore Sculpture Ensemble. Flanked by companion pieces depicting traditional barbering, “Guozao” (Wuhan’s iconic breakfast ritual), and summer leisure scenes, it forms a cohesive humanistic landscape. This series stands as a definitive cultural landmark for Wuhan’s century-old commercial district, immortalizing the city’s vibrant vernacular heritage for millions of annual visitors.
Material Specifications & Surface Engineering
Primary Medium
Cast Tin Bronze Alloy (Figures, Bamboo Daybed, and Chess Pieces).
We utilize a high-performance, outdoor-grade Tin Bronze alloy specifically engineered for environmental resilience. This material is optimized to withstand heavy precipitation, prolonged UV exposure, and the intense thermal fluctuations characteristic of high-traffic urban commercial districts. It guarantees long-term structural integrity and resistance to atmospheric corrosion.
Artistic Finishing & Chromatic Depth
The sculpture features a sophisticated deep antique bronze patination. To enhance the volumetric definition, our artisans perform selective high-gloss hand-buffing on raised surfaces—including musculature, chess pieces, and bamboo ridges. Recessed areas, such as drapery folds and structural crevices, are treated with deep umber tones to create a high-contrast, multi-layered visual effect that amplifies the sculpture’s lifelike presence.
Integrated Site Mounting
Seamless Flush-Mount Installation.
Designed without a separate pedestal to facilitate a more intimate, “street-level” interaction, the sculpture is integrated directly into the existing site paving. Each component is securely anchored into the granite pedestrian tiles, ensuring maximum public safety and stability while maintaining the aesthetic continuity of the urban environment.
