Born in April 1974 in Wuhan, Hubei, Wang Yufeng is a distinguished artist and educator. He currently serves on the faculty of the School of Sculpture and Public Art at the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts (HIFA) and is a prominent member of the China Sculpture Institute.

Dr. Wang’s career is marked by prestigious national and international accolades in both artistic creation and theoretical research:
2016 | International Recognition: His masterpiece The Pioneer: Anhui Public School was conferred the Gold Award at the 5th “Liu Kaiqu Award” International Sculpture Exhibition, one of the most authoritative honors in the global sculpture community.
2025 | Academic Excellence: His doctoral research reached a pinnacle of critical acclaim when his dissertation, Art Museums and Contemporary Art Production, earned the Grand Prize at the 17th Wang Ziyun Art Award, the highest academic honor for art theory and history in China.
Artistic Practice & Mentorship
With a focus on integrating cultural heritage with contemporary interactive forms, Dr. Wang remains an influential figure in public art and academic mentorship:
Public Art & Cultural Innovation: In 2024, he created the patriotic monumental work Great Rivers and Mountains, Not an Inch to Yield. In the same year, he debuted the interactive installation Yuan, which masterfully reinterprets Chu Culture through a modern sculptural lens.
Academic Leadership: As a dedicated mentor at HIFA, he has guided numerous award-winning undergraduate theses, including Thump Thump… and Boundaries. He consistently leads academic initiatives, including hosting the 2024 undergraduate education and teaching audit evaluations.
