Subject Profile
Li Qibin (1936–2003) was a distinguished astronomer hailing from Yidu. A lifelong advocate for astronomical observation and science popularization, his monumental contributions significantly advanced China’s astronomical sector. He remains a preeminent icon of scientific achievement in his hometown. The pedestal features a formal gold-engraved inscription: Li Qibin, Astronomer (1936–2003).
