Styling Details
The landscape features a multi-span modular wall, segmented by stone pillars in the style of Han Dynasty watchtowers (Que) to create a continuous long-scroll narrative across independent bronze panels.
Motifs are derived from Suizhou’s regional history, centering on Jiliang culture and the ancient Zeng-Sui states. Scenes of ritual sacrifice, chariot processions, and daily life are integrated with iconic symbols like chime bells and dragon-phoenix motifs.
Incorporating Han-style architectural elements and traditional eaves, the installation offers a dignified bronze texture by day and high-definition relief depth by night via integrated wall-wash lighting.
Complementary Chu-style auspicious beasts and monumental bronze cauldrons (Ding) are strategically placed to form a cohesive, immersive cultural ensemble.
Manufacturing Process
Design the comprehensive narrative scheme and fabricate clay models in segments, meticulously differentiating relief depths—utilizing low relief for backgrounds and mid-to-high relief for primary figures.
Utilize precision lost-wax bronze casting for individual panels to ensure exceptional durability and superior weathering resistance in permanent outdoor installations.
Apply hot patination for a dignified antique finish, specifically engineered to withstand prolonged exposure to sunlight and rain in open-air park environments.
Execute on-site civil construction for stone pillars and secure panels via dry-hanging steel substructures, incorporating pre-installed conduits and embedded circuitry for integrated landscape floodlighting.
Design Philosophy
Suizhou is the ancestral heart of the ancient Zeng-Sui states, and Jiliang stands as its most prominent historical thinker. This relief wall adopts Jiliang culture as its spiritual core, meticulously exploring the magnificent bronze ritual and music civilization of the ancient region.
By integrating Han-style watchtowers (Que) with bronze reliefs, the installation translates Suizhou’s millennial history into an accessible public landscape. Positioned at the park entrance, it offers citizens an intuitive encounter with local cultural heritage during their leisure time.
This project serves as a multifunctional outdoor window for historical storytelling, seamlessly blending cultural narrative, landscape design, and nighttime illumination.
