The sculptures are prominently situated within Jiuding Plaza at the Great Yu Mythology Park along the Hanyang Riverfront in Wuhan. Flanking the monumental centerpiece, Great Yu Inspecting the Nine Tripods by Chariot, these installations serve as iconic architectural anchors. They overlook the majestic Yangtze River, offering a powerful visual dialogue with the historic Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge positioned directly opposite the site.
Completed in 2006, the Great Yu Mythology Park stands as a premier thematic cultural landscape on the Hanyang riverfront. Stretching approximately 430 meters, the site features 14 sculptural ensembles that chronicle the legendary flood-control epic. Among these, The Admonition Drum stands as a representative masterpiece, symbolizing the transition from flood control to national governance and marking the profound dawn of Huaxia Civilization.
The sculpture is fabricated from premium Cast Tin-Bronze Alloy, featuring a professional oxidized antique finish that yields a rich, deep bronze tone. This medium is engineered for exceptional weathering resistance, specifically optimized for the high-humidity conditions of riparian (riverfront) environments. The substantial weight of the cast metal, paired with its authentic aged patina, evokes a profound sense of historical gravitas while highlighting the sculpture’s raw, primitive power.
Precision Lost-Wax Investment Casting :
The monument utilizes large-scale lost-wax casting protocols to ensure the high-fidelity replication of intricate wing feather textures, the powerful musculature of the beast-like feet, and the precise rivet details on the drum surface.
Manual Polishing & Chemical Thermal Patination :
Post-casting, the sculpture undergoes multiple stages of meticulous manual polishing. A specialized chemical thermal patination process is then executed to develop a uniform bronze oxide layer, providing both a deep aesthetic texture and superior corrosion resistance for the riverfront environment.
Anchoring & Structural Stability :
The sculpture is anchored to a reinforced granite pedestal, achieving a seamless contextual integration with the riverfront plaza. This engineered foundation guarantees absolute structural stability for permanent outdoor display.
The cornerstone installations of the Wuhan Great Yu Mythology Park comprise a curated collection of monumental masterpieces, including Great Yu Inspecting the Nine Tripods by Chariot, Slaying Xiangliu, Yinglong Charting the Rivers, The Nine-Tailed Fox Acting as Matchmaker, The Admonition Drum, and The Mighty Deluge.
