
Sculptural Artist & Founder of Wensculp
Yi Jiawen (b. 1948) is a distinguished Chinese sculptural artist and the former Managing Director of the Wuhan Wensculp Art Bronze Foundry. He is renowned for his mastery in art bronze casting and the creation of monumental urban sculptures. His landmark portfolio includes the celebrated bronze relief Celestial Sounds (Tianlai) at the Hubei Provincial Museum and the iconic sculpture ensemble at Shenzhen’s Window of the World.
Professional Career & Milestones
1948: Born in Liji, Huangpi—the renowned cradle of Chinese folk art.
1980: Appointed to the Huangpi Paotong Clay Sculpture Factory.
1981: Pioneered the “Flexible Gypsum Molding” technique, which served as a major catalyst for the growth and prosperity of the architectural decorative components industry.
1982: Joined the Huangpi Paotong Metal Crafts Factory, deepening his expertise in metallurgical arts.
1984: Founded Wuhan Zaixing Crafts Factory (the predecessor of Wensculp) in Liji, Huangpi.
1993: Relocated Zaixing Crafts Factory to the city of Wuhan to expand operations.
1998: Rebranded as Wuhan Hongshan Wensculp Art Casting & Forging Factory.
2001: Rebranded as Wuhan Wensculp Art Casting Foundry.
2003: Officially registered Wuhan Wensculp Artwork Production Co., Ltd.
2005: Registered Wuhan Wensculp Sculpture Art Co., Ltd.; Concurrently inducted into the prestigious Huangpi Contemporary Figures directory.
2006: Wuhan Hongshan Wensculp Art Casting Factory was reorganized and renamed as Wuhan Hongshan Wensculp Art Factory.
2012: Officially recognized as a representative master of Huangpi Clay Sculpture at the Wuhan Civic Home.

Celestial Sounds (Tianlai)
A monumental bronze relief measuring 22.5 meters in length and 4.34 meters in height. Completed in 1996 in collaboration with Professor Tang Xiaohe, then President of the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts, this masterpiece is featured in the prestigious historical archive, One Hundred Years of Chinese Murals.
